Time for a new adventure

I’ve had several blogs in the past. One of them is of my first journey in the United States in 2011 where I traveled for 80 Days in America. Another one is the blog of my adventure in New Zealand in 2017. These websites contain the stories of beautiful journeys I’ve made and are full of good memories. I think that writing blogs while traveling is a nice way to stay connected with other people and to share experiences.

Next week I travel to America again. Unlike some previous trips, I won’t do much work this time so I can focus more on the journey. In line of that I was thinking not to write a blog either, but last week I realised that I would probably miss it. I love to write and it also helps me experience traveling in a different way. Traveling alone is a great way to discover the world and life and more about yourself, but it’s also nice if you can share your stories.

Instead of creating another website for a specific journey, I decided to set up a blog on which I’ll continue writing from now on. The choice for a name was quickly made. During my traveling in New Zealand I learned the power of these two words: Here and Now. Inspired by the book of Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now, and good conversations with friends and family have taught me the joy of living in the moment. Here and Now life is good, Here and Now there are no problems, Here and Now there is joy.

Now that I’m in my thirties, I sometimes struggle with feeling old. I realise more than ever before that life is temporary and that it’s essential to live it to the fullest. ‘Never stop dreaming’ has been my life motto for a long time and I think it’s important to not only dream, but to actually live the life of your dreams. For me a big part of that is going on adventures, traveling and seeing the world. I would recommend to take some time to think about what you want in life and then go make it happen. I’ll probably write more about this in a future post.

Realising that time goes fast also motivates me to focus more on the present moment. We often think so much of what happened in the past or what might happen in the future that we don’t fully embrace this moment. Being aware that today is special and that you can only live this day one time makes you appreciate it more and will help you live more consciously.

This blog will be about my moments in the Here and Now, the adventures I have while traveling and the lessons I learn along the way. I hope you’ll like it and that it’ll inspire you to also live the life of your dreams and enjoy every day. It’s one of the main pieces of advice I’ve received from my parents and which I gladly follow: Enjoy life!
