I wake up around 4am, way before the alarm clock. Most times I like it when that happens. It gives me some more time to begin the day in a relaxed way and to start work early. I work til about 7am and then have breakfast and get ready to return my car. My friendly Airbnb host offers to drive there as well to pick me up, saving me a long ride on the bus. While driving to the rental place, I realize that I’ll miss the car. Not having a car in America is just missing quite some freedom.
I decide to rent another one at the end of the week to have that freedom again. When we’re back from dropping off the car I go to Starbucks for work. Even though it’s been a few weeks since I was here, they still recognize me and it puts a smile on my face. One of the first things I do is to book another car for the remaining time from the end of this week. I don’t know yet where I’ll go, but I feel like going on more adventures.
The nice thing about starting work early is that you can also stop a bit earlier. Around 3pm I’m done with what I had planned to do for today and walk back to the Airbnb via the beach. Most coffee places in the area are closed at this time of the day, so I decide to take a fun scooter ride to La Jolla to one of my favorite coffee places there. I create this week’s pages in my bullet journal and talk with some people. It’s a bit chilly outside, but inside there’s a little fireplace. The afternoon goes by quickly and when it gets dark outside I take the bus back. I’m glad that I cooked pasta last night, so I have a lot of food left for tonight’s dinner. I think that working in the morning and relaxing in the afternoon is a rhythm I could get used to very well, so I might try it also like this when I’m back home.
