This morning on my way to work I was listening to the Disneyland Background Channel. They were playing beautiful classical music and I thought to myself ‘it would be nice to be in Disneyland now’. Then I looked around at the pretty buildings of my city and realised it could almost be like a ride in Disneyland. My grandma often points out how pretty my city is when I send pictures, while I can easily take it for granted. Not today.
While I kept biking I looked around and was more impressed by everything I saw and a sense of wonder came over me. How awesome it is to be alive! Having the freedom to go almost anywhere you want and to live this great adventure. Just realising that makes me so happy. Albert Einstein said “There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.” I am sure that the latter will bring you most happiness.
When you walk outside today, look around you (instead of on your phone ?). Take notice of as much as you can. The buildings, the cars and, if you’re in the Netherlands, all the bikes. Someone created all those things. Not too long ago, most of what you see now wasn’t there yet. Take a moment to appreciate how wonderful it is that you get to live this day. While you probably can’t go to Disneyland every day, you get the chance to live a wonderful life and create the magic wherever you are.
